What’s new with MWSports.com

November 4th, 2011

Did you notice the new domain?  This year we picked up the domain name MWSports.com.  All of your old bookmarks will still work, they will just redirect to the new MWSports.com domain. We’re excited about this change and have made a few other minor changes to go along with the .com update.

Our home page now only lists one month of tournaments at a time. This doesn’t mean that non-members can’t still see the next month… In fact, we’ve expanded the number of months that are viewable for non-members. Starting today you don’t have to be logged in to view ALL of the tournaments on our site. Just use the arrow buttons next to the month to jump from month to month.

We’re happy to have Bene-Marc Inc as an advertiser again this year. Based on the interest in their ad they must be a great fit for our tournament participants and organizers alike.

On the tournament information page you will now see a link to Zappos. After hearing so many good things about them through podcasts and on the 20/20 television show, we’ve decided to join their affiliate program. Please check them out through the link on the tournament listing page. This holiday season you can buy a gift for a loved one from a great company with proven customer service, get free shipping, and help support our tournament listings all without having to deal with holiday shopping crowds.

Have a great winter sport season!

What’s new with MWSports.net

November 17th, 2010

This fall sports season has sparked a lot of changes at MWSports.net.  The changes so far have targeted driving more traffic to our website.  Our main goal is to provide our listing of baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, softball, wrestling, and volleyball tournament information to as many athletes, coaches, and parents as possible.  The more traffic we have the better.  More visitors will result in tournaments listed on our site being seen by more people.  The increased traffic has already triggered quite a few more tournaments being shared on our website than we have had during this time period in the past.

We have a new advertiser, Bene-Marc, this season.  Its advertisers like Bene-Marc that make our website possible.  Please check out their services, by clicking on the link on the right sidebar, to see if they can help you, your tournament, or athlete.

We don’t charge tournament directors to share tournament information on our website or visitors or members to browse our listings.  MWSports.net has always been a free service site.  If you would like to support us:

  • Spread the word about our site.  If you found our listings helpful you probably know at least a few other people that would find our website useful.
  • Visit our sponsors.  They make this website possible.
  • Send us your suggestions.  We’re currently working to update our website.  We already have a list of changes we are planning to make.  If you have been confused when using our site, been frustrated by something, or just have a suggestion on something that you’d like to see us add; send us an email addressed to help@MWSports.com.

Thank you for using MWSports.com.

A Message From Gregg

March 3rd, 2006

GreggThis project started about 15 years ago. Hard to believe that much time has passed. Today’s internet and present communication tools have made the original book, then called Sports Schedules – Iowa, really look like an antique. I remember trying to meet deadlines each year, sending out letters, followed up by phone call after phone call. I’ll bet many of you can relate to the size of our phone bills at that time. Hard to believe this has survived for that alone! Then came “crunch time” as I used to call it. We needed to get the booklet out early enough to be useful for its audience, but many of the tournament directors couldn’t get their gyms secured that early. Again,…followup phone calls. Also the Camps that displayed their information didn’t have their dates setup for the following summer….followup phone calls.

Today we have this website which makes this process easier for all of us. Immediately ready information, literally at your fingertips – constantly updated as new information comes available. Who’d a thunk? My son Mark, who’s in charge of the website, is constantly updating the site with tools and new techniques, me, with my limited computer knowledge, can’t even describe. But let me assure you – this site is cutting edge in technology and continues to improve.

We will always need your input. Please remind future Tournament Directors of our site, so they can continue to keep the information coming. If you know of an event that has not been listed, please advise them of this website. Also, if your other kids are involved in other sports, try to get that tournament information submitted. This service is very cheap……FREE. Now that the most active part of youth wrestling and basketball is winding down, we are looking for information of upcoming softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, and golf tournaments. We will be working with renewed vigor to make this a year-round tournament database for your use.
